X-IM Software exists for the purpose of preserving the privacy of our users; we therefore make the preservation of their privacy our first concern. No personal information collected by X-IM Software is ever shared with any other party. We do not sell or share any user or visitor information with our advertising partners or advertising agencies. Web Site Privacy
IP Addresses
X-IM Software will sometimes log visitors' IP addresses a) to help determine the number of unique visitors to our site, b) to help determine the number of unique visitors viewing advertisers' sites, and c) to help diagnose problems with servers and to administer Web sites. IP addresses will not be used for any purposes other than these.
Information From Notification Forms
X-IM Software, at visitors' requests, collects contact information for the purpose of notifying visitors of the availability of specified products and services. This is a one-time mailing that visitors may sign up for; the information thus collected is never used for any other purpose or shared with any other party.
Information From Registration Forms
X-IM Software uses information from registration forms, including contact information and financial information, solely for the purpose of activating or delivering goods or services, and billing for those goods or services as directed by the user.
Cookies
X-IM Software uses session cookies on some of its web pages to retain session variables from one page to the next. These cookies are deleted when the browser is closed or the session is ended, and are not used for an sort of information collection. Please note that X-IM Software allows its advertisers to use cookies in relation to their advertisements. Advertisers' use of cookies is subject to their own privacy policies, not X-IM Software's privacy policy.
X-IM Messaging Service Privacy
Connection Information
X-IM Software collects IP Addresses and related TCP/IP connection information. This information is only used for authenticating connections and for diagnostic purposes.
Registration Information
X-IM Software collects email contact information for the purpose of uniquely identifying users on the X-IM network. This information is used to send the user an email to verify the accuracy of their address, as well as to let the user be contacted by other users who know the address. At the user's option this information can also be used to email the user updates in the availability of X-IM Software's goods and services. Any such emails contain opt-out instructions within them.
Contact List Information
X-IM Software collects a list of contact addresses for the purpose of notifying users when the users on their contact list come online or go offline. This information is also used to facilitate the connection of secure data streams between users. We consider our users' contact lists highly sensitive information, and treat them as such. See the section below on security for more information.
Payment Information
X-IM Software uses information from software-based registration interfaces, including contact information and financial information, solely for the purpose of activating or delivering goods or services, and billing for those goods or services as directed by the user.
Security
X-IM Software strictly protects the security of users' information within the confines of our secure servers, and honors users' choices for its intended use. We carefully protect users' data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. We protect users' data from disclosure, with exception only in matters where designated by law or court order. This exception, however, only applies to information to which we have access. As described below, users' technologically protected information, such as message contents, lies completely outside our ability to access or disclose.
Technologically Guaranteed Privacy
X-IM messaging software is designed to technologically guarantee the privacy of your private information on the X-IM system. Users' private software keys and all sensitive information locally stored by X-IM software is protected by the secrecy of the user's passphrase. X-IM Software has no possible means of determining a user's passphrase, or without the passphrase accessing this private information or granting any other party to access this information. User's secure messages are protected by their recipient's private keys. X-IM Software has no access to the recipient's private keys as explained above, and has no possible means of accessing the contents of secure messages without these private keys.
