About Meetro
Meetro is an online service that allows our members to set up unique personal profiles that can be linked together through networks of friends. Meetro members can view each others' profiles, communicate with old friends and meet new friends on the service, share photos, and describe their interests. Meetro is designed to facilitate real-time meetings with people locally. To enrich our members' experience, we request and display some personal information to other members and visitors, which allows our users to identify each other and expand their network of friends. Meetro members can change their profile information at any time and can control how other members and the service communicate with them.
Meetro cares deeply about online privacy. Meetro wants you to know that when you use Meetro, your personally identifiable information will be respected and protected. We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties without your explicit consent. If you have any questions concerning this privacy policy, please email us at info@meetro.com
Information Collection and Use by Meetro
Meetro collects user submitted information such as name, email address, and age to authenticate users and to send notifications to those users relating to the Meetro service. Meetro also collects other profile data including but not limited to: personal interests, gender, age, education, location, and occupation in order to assist users in finding and communicating with each other.
Meetro also logs non-personally-identifiable information including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, operating system and browser type, from users of the client and visitors to the website. This data is used to manage and track usage, generally allowing us to improve upon all offered services. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes only.
User Profile information including members' pictures and first names are displayed to people in order to facilitate user interaction in the Meetro community. Email addresses are used for the purposes of logging in, inviting new friends to join Meetro, adding users to members' friends' networks, and to send notifications related to the service. Log-in information is used to determine physical location. With the exception of inviting friends, adding friends, and sending notifications, a user's email address is not shared or displayed to people within a user's personal network. Users within a personal network communicate on Meetro with each other through the Meetro service, without disclosing their email addresses. To facilitate searching and finding friends and acquaintances on the service, Meetro allows users to search for other members using first and last name, email address, and schools and/or companies where users may have attended or worked. We may also use a user's email address to send updates, a newsletter or news regarding the service.
From time to time, Meetro or a partner, may sponsor a promotion, sweepstake or contest on Meetro. Users may be asked to provide personal information including name, email address or home address or to answer questions in order to participate. We may transfer personal information to certain ad partners that you have explicitly requested to receive information from. Generally, unless otherwise stated in the promotion, sweepstake or contest, contact information is used to notify promotion winners only. It will be clear at the point of collection who is collecting the personal information and whose privacy statement will apply. However, the user may at any time unsubscribe from these promotions, sweepstakes or contests by opting-out.
If a user should send us personal correspondence, such as emails or letters, we may collect such information into a file specific to that person.
We value user opinions and want to improve the overall experience with Meetro; therefore, from time to time we may conduct research surveys. We may also contract with third parties to perform the research surveys. We may also contract with third parties to perform the research, but the use of the member data by that third party is limited solely to that survey initiative and is protected by a confidentially agreement.
Invitations and Other Communications to Non-members
Meetro members can invite friends to join the service by sending invitation emails via our automated invitation system. Meetro stores the email addresses that members provide so that the respondents may be added to the friend's list of the member sending the invitations, and also to send reminders of the invitations. Meetro does not sell these email addresses or use them to send any other communication besides invitations, invitation reminders (up to three (3) per email address). Recipients of invitations from Meetro may contact Meetro to request the removal of their information from our database.
Links
Meetro and user profiles may contain links to external sites. Meetro is not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices on other sites. When linking to another site a user should read the privacy policy stated on that site. Our privacy policy only governs information collected on Meetro proper.
Correcting/Updating or Removing Information
Meetro users may modify or remove any of their personal information at any time by choosing "Edit My Profile" in the Meetro client application.
Email Choice/Opt-out
When you register, you will receive informational updates via email, which you may opt-out of.
Members who no longer wish to receive updates, notifications or newsletters may choose not to by visiting the Newsletter opt-out page. All notification emails and Meetro newsletters also include the above instructions for opting-out of those communications in the future.
Consent
By using Meetro, you agree to the collection and use, consistent with applicable laws, of information available on or through the this site by Meetro, its affiliates, partners, contractors and permitted agents. Should a change to our privacy policy occur, we will post those changes thirty days prior to that change, so that the user is always aware of the nature of the information that we collect, how we use it, and the circumstances under which we disclose it. Unless otherwise required or permitted by applicable law, we do not intend to use your personally identifiable information collected through this site in ways not described here without first providing you the opportunity to opt-out of that use.
Security
Meetro member accounts are secured by member-created passwords. Meetro takes precautions to insure that member account information is kept private. We use reasonable measures to protect member information that is stored within our database, and we restrict access to member information to those employees who need access to perform their job functions, such as our customer service personnel and technical staff. Please note that we cannot guarantee the security of member account information. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of member information at any time. Control of Your Password
In order to protect your privacy, Meetro recommends that you not share your password with any third-party that would allow them access to your account and profile information.
Minors
Meetro is not intended nor does it seek to receive information from minors under the age of 18, however, due to the nature of our services, Meetro cannot verify the age of its users.
Sharing and Disclosure of Information Meetro Collects
Except as described above, Meetro will not disclose personal information to any third party without a user's explicit permission unless required by law, court order or as requested by a governmental or law enforcement authority. Meetro reserves the right to transfer personal information to a successor in interest that acquires rights to that information as a result of the sale of Meetro or substantially all of its assets to that successor in interest. Changes in Our Privacy Policy
From time to time we may make changes to our privacy policy. If we make changes, we will post them on our site to make users aware of what the changes are so users will always be aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and when we may disclose it. A user is bound by any minor changes to the policy when she or he uses the site after those changes have been posted. If, however, we are going to use users' personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify by posting a notice on our web site for 30 days.
