What This Privacy Policy Covers
This policy covers how Doppelganger treats personal information that Doppelganger collects and receives whether provided by you or based on your use of the Doppelganger Environment, Profiles, Forums, Support and other Doppelganger products and services. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable like your name, address, email address, or phone number, and that is not otherwise publicly available.
This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Doppelganger does not own or control, or to people that Doppelganger does not employ or manage. Information Collection and Use
We collect personal information when you register with Doppelganger and use Doppelganger products and services, such as the Doppelganger Environment, Forums and Profiles. Doppelganger may combine information about you that we have with information we obtain from business partners or other companies.
When you register we ask for information such as your name, email address, birth date, gender, country, postal code and you may optionally provide other information such as your personal interests and your SMS number.
When you register and sign in to use any of Doppelganger's products or services, you are not anonymous to us.
When you are using Doppelganger products and services, such as the Doppelganger Environment, we can capture where you are, what you interact with, what you write or say, what you may see, who you chat with, the things you do when you're in the Doppelganger Environment, the content you may create and the things you acquire in the Doppelganger Environment.
Depending on your use of Doppelganger products and services, we may collect information about your transactions (for example, credit card or financial information or the offers you respond to) with us and with some of our business partners.
We may log technical information such as IP address and general system information about your computer, such as: your CPU, graphics card, amount of memory and browser type. This data is used to manage, track usage of, and improve Doppelganger products and services. It may also be used to determine whether your system meets minimum requirements to access the Environment. This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third parties to provide more relevant services and advertisements to members. Because the security of Doppelganger products and services is incredibly important to us, we may scan specific attributes of your computer system, such as IP address, your computer's CPU ID or other unique characteristics of your system for security and monitoring purposes. Any information regarding the attributes of your computer system which Doppelganger stores will be in the form of a "one way hash" (such as md5) and will never be decoded by Doppelganger or any of its Partners.
Doppelganger uses information for the following purposes: (i) to customize the advertising and content you see; (ii) fulfill your requests for products and services; (iii) improve our services; (iv) provide you with offers, whether through Doppelganger or our partners, that we believe you may find of interest; (v) contact you; (vi) conduct research; (vii) provide anonymous reporting for internal and external clients; and (viii) conduct investigations relating to your compliance with the terms of use.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
Doppelganger does not rent or sell personal information about you with other people or nonaffiliated companies except to provide products or services you've requested, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances:
We may provide the information to companies who work on behalf of or with Doppelganger ("Ad Partners"). Ad Partners may use your personal information to help Doppelganger communicate with you about offers from Doppelganger and our marketing partners. However, Ad Partners do not have any independent right to share this information.
Certain Doppelganger products and services (including certain areas, special events or performances in the Doppelganger Environment) are offered with the content or sponsorship of other companies ("Sponsors"). We may share your personal information with Sponsors. Any use of your personal information by Sponsors is subject to the terms of their respective privacy policies.
We may use your personal information to support the referral program described below.
We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.
We believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of Doppelganger's Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law.
We transfer information about you if Doppelganger is acquired by or merged with another company. In this event, Doppelganger will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Doppelganger may display targeted advertisements based on personal information. Such targeted advertisements may be displayed while you are in the Doppelganger Environment, Forums, Profiles, or other Doppelganger products and services. Advertisers (including ad serving companies) may assume that people who interact with, view, or click on targeted ads meet the targeting criteria - for example, men ages 18-24 from a particular geographic area.
Doppelganger does not provide any personal information to the advertiser when you interact with or view a targeted ad. However, by interacting with or viewing an ad you are consenting to the possibility that the advertiser will make the assumption that you meet the targeting criteria used to display the ad.
Referral Program
When you use vSide referral program (the "Referral Program"), we may ask you to provide information such as your email address and your friends' e-mail addresses. In return, you and your friends will be given the opportunity to register and become a member of vSide, and your friends will also be given the opportunity to make referrals to their friends. This feature helps us spread the word about vSide. During and after participation in the Referral Program you and/or your friends may receive additional communications from us or our vendors in relation to the Referral Program and you and/or your friends' participation in it. The data collected through the Referral Program is only used for the operation and ongoing maintenance of the Referral Program and will not be distributed to any third parties other than those Doppelganger trusted partners that may be helping us in the operation and maintenance of the Referral Program. You and your friends may opt-out of participation in the Referral Program at any time via opt-out links in all communications made to you and your friends through the Referral Program or by sending an email to privacy@vside.com.
Cookies
We may use cookies to provide you with certain services you request. For example, if you choose to use Doppelganger Forums and Doppelganger websites, you may choose to automatically log in through choosing a "Remember Me" option, in which case a cookie is stored on your computer to identify you to the Doppelganger Forum system.
Your Ability to Edit Your Account Information and Opting Out
You can edit your Doppelganger account information at any time by accessing the following links:

If you want to opt-out of receiving communications from Doppelganger (excluding system or service alerts), you can select the unsubscribe option in an e-mail sent by Doppelganger. If you want to opt-out of a Sponsor's communications, you should follow the procedures set forth in the applicable privacy policy.
Confidentiality
In connection with Doppelganger's use of your personal information, Doppelganger limits access to our employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Doppelganger may update this policy. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your Doppelganger account or by placing a prominent notice on our site.
